Out From Under (1996) (ebook epub format) $4.75 This was my first novel length work that I wrote in 1996 shortly after completing my University degree. In many ways I looked at this as both a opportunity to express what I learned during my degree but also as a direct counterpoint to the critical theory based literary analysis that we were exposed to as undergrads. Here's a blurb: “Suddenly it was quiet and we could hear the storm howling outside. The light flickered off my father's face. He turned slowly around the circle looking intently, but briefly, at each of us. He smiled to put us at ease. He puffed himself up and moved a few steps to the sound of the storm. It was a loose, series of movements accentuated by the lighting. He stopped and stood very still. Finally, he raised his eyes to the ceiling and spoke cleanly up through his resonating chambers. The sound of his voice was not loud. It was big. He said, "Tonight we deal with truth.” |
Breathiing Busan (1998,2003) (ebook epub format) $4.75 I wrote this novel while I was living and working in South Korea. I began the novel while living in the exclusive Haeundae beach area of Busan (formerly Pusan). It was a perspective altering period of my life that was also punctuated by a great deal of creativity. Here's a short exerpt: "Michael lifted his head to the lights and let the sound drape over him and drench him and run down him like a shimmering heat wave. He moved subtly and loosely. The movements rolled with the beat of the music. He didn’t chase the rhythm he let it come to him. Punctuating the refrain with repetitive movement. Subtle orchestrations of the same overture. Dancing was art, expression, physicality. Next to Michael, Dominic moved like one with the music." |
